A story of interest that most all races hear or find upon their first visits to the stars and contacts with other civilizations of the cradle.

The Cradle is a mythic structure, a citidel or perhaps a ship that moves throughout space or, alternately, from one world directly to another. In stories, the Cradle is sometimes the ancient home of the gods and sometimes a being itself. This structure suposedly can do a great many things. Here are a few of the myths. Beware, however; many religions have cropped up around the Cradle, some vile, some benificent. Some even say the Cradle is many structures, or living beings. Another, commonly accepted myth is that however many Cradles there once were, the current ones are many seperate parts.

Myths of the Cradle:
Stasis Area of a god/gods
Giver of Life, Builder of Intricate Life, Enhancer,
Cradle of Mechanical Life, Intricate, Enhancer,
Corrupting Citidel Giving Bodies to Rebirth gods,
Angel's Cradle and Santuary
Feind's Cradle and Prison
Tomb of the Indifferent Dead
Factory of the Imagined
[Ship-Builder of Great Fleets]
[Forge of Planets]
Flying Moon-Like Bringer of Fast and Ranged DOOM.
Portal to other realms or worlds,
Summoner of Powerful Allies,
Seat of the Forum of Great Beings
Giver of God-power
[Crystal of Manas Flow]
[Heart of the (Alchemic) Force]
[Mind-Seat of the Empowered (a la a powerful Tar-Aiym Krang)]

If even a few of these exist, then one in possession of such a place would give a race or individual a power beyond reckoning. And to the foes of such a gift would be death.

It is on these places that archeologists and raiders drool over, and where our game shall gain its focus.
